‘So, what’s the pay, Ray?’
‘So, what’s the pay, Ray?’

Despite the long overdue upturn in the job market, it appears that vacancies advertised with no salary information is increasing, says software provider, Recruitive.

Though inherent in traditional advertisements, once the recession hit, employers were sometimes forced, and at the very least, encouraged, to negotiate salary depending on the skills and experience of the candidate in question; critical when every penny counts in a shaky economy.

Now that things are on the up, this trend hasn't reverted to 'the old way' of doing things; it has, instead, increased. A whopping 29.72% of jobs advertised in August were published with no salary information. As Sarah Dickens, Recruitive Marketing Manager, states, it would seem that 'employers are changing their approach'.

Having the power to negotiate salary could, however, come down to sound or shrewd business decision, particularly if we're not quite at flooded-job-market capacity. Seeing how much they can pay, rather than what a sparse applicant marketplace suggests they should pay, may be something they never give up. And why should they, if they're holding all the cards?
Sounds like a job for a recruitment agency web design: to act as mediator, like an estate agent in a house sale.

'How much would you accept?'
'Well, how much would they pay?'

This kind of mediation means both parties get the information they want to hear and no more, and all the behind the scenes negotiation and activity stays within the four walls of the agency – just another way you can prove an asset to your clients, and something you should make sure they're aware of.
